    Eleven Celebrates Mixer Ben Freer’s 10th Anniversary & Jordan Meltzer’s Promotion To Mixer

    Boutique studio Eleven has made its mark as an industry leader in sound mixing for commercials and other media. A plethora of factors contributed to its success, but the most significant are its people -- among them, Mixer Ben Freer who celebrates a milestone 10th anniversary with Eleven this year, and Jordan Meltzer with a promotion to Mixer.

    A Manchester-native with a California upbringing Freer was inspired by all things sound from a young age and was first introduced to Eleven as an intern in 2007. He quickly climbed the ranks to become an official staff member the same year. Freer has mixed for renowned clients in the advertising and multimedia industries, including Toyota, GMC, T-Mobile, Nike, H&R Block, The Weeknd and Lorde.

    A Los Angeles native, Jordan Meltzer got hooked on sound and began gravitating towards the craft after seeing The Who perform at the Hollywood Bowl at age 9. After joining Eleven as an intern, similar to Freer, he climbed the ranks and took on a newfound role as Assistant Mixer, building his portfolio on a variety of films and commercials with clients HP, Dodge, Disney, FitBit & Sam Smith. Meltzer’s remarkable contributions lead him to a recent promotion as Mixer and Sound Designer.

    Eleven Announces A Triad Of Team Additions In Client Services, Production and Mixing

    Eleven’s Founder/Mixer/Sound Designer Jeff Payne announces a triad of team additions to his growing audio post company, with Madeleine “Maddee” Bonniot as Producer, Andrew Smith as Assistant Mixer and Jordan “Jojo” Hart as Client Services & Facilities Coordinator. The remarkable new roster of talent joins Eleven as part of a continuous objective to sustain momentum and broaden horizons across the board.

    A Los Angeles native, Madeleine “Maddee” Bonniot moved north to attend the University of San Francisco and earned a BA degree in Media Studies, while working in the University’s Events Management Department. Maddee made her way back to L.A. after college and worked as an Associate Producer at Santa Monica music house HUM. Her event and music production background helped her find her way to Eleven, where she has taken on the role of Producer. 

    Born & raised in the suburbs of Montgomery County, MD, Jordan “Jojo” Hart recently relocated to the Los Angeles area. Having studied Communications, Jojo has garnered experience as a Production Assistant, as well as with Event Planning - learning the tricks of the trade at a young age by helping with her mother’s event planning business. These skills have allowed Jojo to bring a keen attention to detail and creativity to the Client Services role.

    Growing up outside of Philadelphia, PA, Andrew has always had a passion for music and sound design. From playing drums to programming beats in high school, he has always known he wanted to work with sound. Moving to Los Angeles in 2015, Andrew’s career focus shifted into audio post-production, landing a 6-months internship at Eleven that transpired to his current role as Assistant Mixer.

    Eleven Names Melissa Elston New Executive Producer; Unveils Studio Renovations & Upgrades

    Eleven’s Founder/Mixer/Sound Designer Jeff Payne has once again promoted from within his talented audio post company, naming Melissa Elston as the team’s new Executive Producer. Payne also unveils a series of renovations and upgrades for the downstairs mixing studios at Eleven for Mixers/Sound Designers Ben Freer and Mike Franklin, as well as a newly renovated kitchen and lounge area.

    “Over the past six months, we’ve implemented many substantial technical upgrades and improvements at Eleven to enhance the client experience,” notes Jeff Payne. “Both Studio A and B’s audio systems have been upgraded to match Studio C and D’s systems with Avid S6 consoles, Pro Tools HDX systems running Pro Tools 12HD, all utilizing audio over Ethernet Red Net Bridges using BSS monitoring hardware controlled by Crestron touch panels. In addition, we’ve designed and constructed a new kitchen and lounge that reflects my passion and love of design. It’s not only beautiful, but very functional for our clients.”

    Eleven’s new Executive Producer Melissa Elston is a Santa Monica native. She joined the Eleven team in 2015 following her tenure producing private events with the City of Santa Monica and the California Yacht Club. Her experience in event sales and coordination combined with her M.A. in Counseling give her the oh-so-harmonious balance needed for the Executive Producer position. Her philosophy is to turn every session into a unique and creative experience.

    “What an exciting time to be at Eleven!” says Elston. “I’m thrilled and honored to step into the Executive Producer position joined by the most top-notch and sought-after audio talent in postproduction.     The Super Bowl 2017 campaign climate was filled with celebration as Arcade, Cut+Run, Eleven and Timber revel in their wide-spread contributions. The four studios enjoyed one of their greatest years to date with numerous spots each, attracting a plethora of buzz from various media outlets and online platforms. The companies anticipate more traction and reaction in the near future as the spots take a life of their own online, with plans for continued growth and overall presence in the years ahead.

    The team of editors at Arcade contributed their talents to 10 Super Bowl 2017 commercial campaigns this year, including Aflac, Buick, Busch, H&R Block, Snickers, Synovus, Tide and T-Mobile. Cut+Run’s editors contributed to 2 pre-game spots for Heinz & Taco Bell and 1 game spot for It’s a 10, while the team of mixers and sound designers at Eleven contributed to a total of 7 spots for API, Buick, H&R Block, SoCal Honda, T-Mobile and Wix. Timber’s team contributed their VFX/postproduction talents to 8 spots including commercials for Buick, H&R Block, Snickers, Synovus, and multiple spots for T-Mobile.

    Eleven’s Founder/Mixer Jeff Payne has just completed audio postproduction and sound design on the extensive, new H&R Block commercial campaign, featuring Jon Hamm. Whether Jon is offering tax refund advice to the undead, wandering the forest alone, or finding time to file his taxes between blowing things up, he relies on H&R Block. In the new, eight-spot campaign, Jon encourages viewers not to just get their taxes done, but to “get their taxes won” with H&R Block.

  • Eleven Welcomes Back Mixer/Sound Designer Mike Franklin

    Last summer, Owner/Mixer Jeff Payne and the Eleven team unveiled a major expansion with the addition of two new state-of-the-art audio post-production mixing suites. The expansion launched the next phase of Eleven’s growth as Payne continues to cater his audio services to an extensive national advertising client list and promote talents from within the company. Continuing on this expansion path, Payne welcomes back staff Mixer/Sound Designer Mike Franklin who began his career at Eleven in 2002.

     “I’m thrilled to have Mike return to Eleven – it has been wonderful to see his career come full circle,” explains Payne. “Mike got his industry start here, rose through the ranks and was my Assistant Mixer for five years. It has been amazing to watch him develop his craft as a Mixer and Sound Designer, to see his career really take off over the past few years. Returning to Eleven, joining me and fellow Mixers Ben Freer and AJ Murillo is very rewarding for me as a Mixer and also as a mentor. At Eleven, we believe in growing talent from within. Having Mike re-join our team, so that he can go to the next level with his projects and clients, is an exciting opportunity for the whole team.”

    Mixer/Sound Designer Mike Franklin recently re-joined Eleven after a tenure at Beacon Street Studios in Venice. Franklin’s career in sound began back in 2002 at Eleven. In ’09, after Franklin served as Payne’s Assistant Mixer for five years, he then broke out to freelance as a full-time Mixer on his own. While continuing to work on commercials, Mike also expanded his skill set, working on television and feature films as both a Mixer and Sound Designer. After landing a gig as a lead Mixer in 2012, he worked on major campaigns, including several Super Bowl spots, for companies like Microsoft, Apple Music, Samsung, Taco Bell, Absolut, EA, Beats, Nascar and Coke.
